Kid’s birthday makes great memories. We often pay attention to every minute detail to make this day special. So, here are few tips to capture photographs which represent true feeling of the birthday party.
- Clicking adorable pictures of child before party - Take pictures of all the preparations leading up to the party especially baby getting dressed up for the party. Having a pre party photo shoot at least few weeks advance is a great idea; these photographs can be used for setting the mood for birthday party as well. For instance, you can use these special photographs for party decorations like you can frame those photographs and display it on party table or you can stick these pictures on party invitations.
- Camera Angle - Whenever you are photographing kids, thumb rule is photographs should be taken from their eye level. You can get down on your knees or you can get down quite low and shoot looking up at kids. Try shooting from different angles and perspectives.
- Lighting Settings - Birthday parties are most of the time in house, where lighting conditions can be tricky, as there will be artificial light, resulting in extra light that shows up in your photos. The best way to overcome this is adjusting white balance settings in your camera. Before party starts experiment with variety of automatic settings in your camera and stick to the one, which goes best with present light conditions.
- Use Continuous shooting mode - Children are very spontaneous and never sitting still, so it is a good idea to shoot in continuous mode wherein your camera captures series of shots in quick succession. With this, you will be able to produce more lively and playful series of shots at the end of the day.
- Detail shots - Photograph details of the party such as party decorations, party food, cake, party table etc and the best time to take these shots is before guests arrive. These types of shot look great, when you fill the frame with them and are best to tell story from start to finish.
- Candid shots - When it comes to photographing kids, candid shots are a great option. So you can have a mix of shots with couple of candid shots featuring kids playing with each other, giggling, dancing, eating and lot more.
- Some planned shots - Few shots like group photos, baby blowing out candles, enjoying fun activities, opening presents are staple shots of any birthday party. To cover all the important moments of the party, make sure you are well acquainted with party plan ahead of time, so that you are well positioned for each moment.
